SAFETY STANDARDS YOU CAN TRUST

At CT Excavating, safety is not just a requirement; it is the foundation of every project we complete. From pre-construction
planning to final cleanup, our team is committed to protecting our employees, our clients, and every job site we step onto. We believe the safest projects are the most successful projects, and that commitment drives every decision we make. Our safety program is built around accountability, preparation, and continuous improvement, so every task is completed with precision, care, and confidence.

A SAFETY-FIRST APPROACH TO EVERY PROJECT

We treat safety as a core company value, never as an afterthought. Our structured safety program is designed to:

    • Prevent incidents before they happen
    • Maintain full OSHA compliance
    • Protect employees, subcontractors, and clients
    • Improve efficiency through organized planning
    • Deliver high-quality work without compromise

Every project begins with a clear plan, proper communication, and a team focused on doing the job right the first time.

    TRAINING THAT SUPPORTSSAFE EXECUTION

A strong safety culture starts with a
well-trained team. Our employees receive ongoing training that includes:

    • OSHA 10-hour and OSHA 30-hour
      certifications
    • Task-specific safety procedures
      Weekly toolbox talks
    • New employee safety orientation
    • Equipment and hazard awareness
      training

We make sure every crew member understands the job, the risks involved, and the correct procedures before work begins.

“WE TREAT SAFETY AS A CORE COMPANY VALUE. ”

    UTILITY LOCATION & SITE PREPARATION

Before any digging begins, we take
the necessary steps to identify and
    protect existing infrastructure.

    • Locating underground utilities such as gas, electric, water, and communication lines
    • Coordinating with 811 and utility providers
    • Evaluating surrounding structures and surfaces
    • Preparing the site for safe access and equipment movement

    PROTECTIVE SYSTEMS

    To prevent cave-ins and related
hazards, we use protective systems based on soil conditions and site-
    specific requirements.

    These may include:

    • Sloping and benching
    • Shoring systems
    • Shield systems (trench boxes)

    Every excavation is evaluated
carefully to determine the safest and
    most effective method.

      DAILY INSPECTIONS

      Excavations are inspected regularly
      by a designated competent person.
      Inspections are performed:

      • Before each shift begins
      • Throughout the workday
      • After rain, weather changes, or shifting conditions
      • Anytime site conditions change

      This helps ensure hazards are
      identified and corrected
      immediately.

JOB HAZARD ANALYSIS (JHA) ON EVERY SITE

Before starting work, our crews complete a Job Hazard
        Analysis (JHA).

        This process allows us to:

        • Break each task into individual steps
        • Identify potential hazards
        • Implement controls to reduce or eliminate risk
        • Communicate expectations clearly to the crew

JHAs are reviewed daily and kept accessible on-site for
        reference throughout the project.

        PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE)

Proper PPE is required on every project.

        Required PPE may include:

        • Hard hats
        • Safety glasses
        • High-visibility vests
        • Gloves
        • Protective footwear
        • Hearing protection
        • Fall protection systems

All equipment is routinely inspected up to standard.

          CLEAR COMMUNICATION

Safety depends on clear communication and shared
          responsibility.

          We maintain:

          • Open communication between crews and leadership
          • Immediate reporting of hazards or incidents
          • Ongoing safety updates and process improvements
          • Stop-work authority for any unsafe condition

Every employee has the authority and responsibility to
speak up when something is not safe.

          ZERO-ACCIDENT CULTURE

Our goal is simple: Create a work environment where
incidents are prevented, not reacted to.

          We support that goal through:

          • Continuous safety training
          • Routine inspections and audits
          • Accountability at every level
          • Strong leadership and employee involvement
          • Consistent focus on prevention

At the end of the day, nothing matters more than the
          people on the job.

WORK WITH A TEAM THAT PRIORITIZES SAFETY
